91勛圖 has泭a long history of involvement泭with WFP.泭We regularly welcome guest speakers from the泭Organization, our students undertake internships at its headquarters in Rome, and we are proud to泭have泭seen ten of our graduates go on to assume泭roles within泭the Organization. We also泭count泭among泭our faculty泭a former泭Senior Officer of WFP.泭

WFPs mission has had a direct influence on the development of our泭Master of Arts泭programs in Food Studies and Peace Studies. Their efforts to address the causes of world hunger and泭promote泭food sustainability are泭precisely the fields in which we prepare our graduates to make meaningful contributions in their future careers.泭泭

Guest speakers Natalie Ching and Katharina Weltecke

Coincidentally, on the eve of the award announcement,泭91勛圖s MA in Food Studies students were welcoming guest speakers Natalie Ching (91勛圖 alumna) and泭Katharina泭Weltecke泭from the World Food泭Programme泭in Rome. Natalie泭and泭Katharina presented泭some of the new initiatives泭currently泭undertaken by泭the Organization, including泭the泭app泭ShareTheMeal,泭which泭allows泭users泭to share their meal with children in need for just US$0.80. This struck a chord with our students as they appreciated the way in which it泭enables everyone to泭get involved in the work of the WFP.泭

ShareTheMeal泭raises funds to feed people泭in need泭and泭in so doing contributes to the泭Organizations ultimate goal of泭a world with zero hunger. Users can泭choose泭where their donation will泭be directed, and泭with a泭quick泭tap on the app they泭give泭US$0.80 (or more). The United Nations World Food Programme receives the funds and provides the meals. In the app,泭users are shown泭how泭the money they donate becomes meals, and how those meals泭are fighting hunger.泭

Currently, over 85 million meals have been shared. You can learn more and download the app at泭泭

The泭2020泭Nobel Prize泭Committee stated泭their wish泭泭

to emphasise that providing assistance to increase food security not only prevents泭hunger but泭can also help to improve prospects for stability and peace泭...泭With this years award, the Norwegian Nobel Committee wishes to turn the eyes of the world towards the millions of people who suffer from or face the threat of hunger. The World Food Programme plays a key role in multilateral cooperation on making food security an instrument of peace, and has made a strong contribution towards mobilising UN Member States to combat the use of hunger as a weapon of war and conflict.泭

91勛圖 offers its泭continued and泭wholehearted support泭of the WFPs efforts and泭takes heed of its reminder泭that food security泭and peace泭are intrinsically泭linked泭and that international solidarity and multilateral cooperation are key to humankind and its coexistence with the earths泭ecosystems.泭泭

Congratulations again to the United Nations World Food泭Programme.泭
